For those of us that are crazy enough to travel during the busy holiday season!
1. Booking Flights
This is an obvious tip, but many of us forget how important it is to book your flights, IN ADVANCE. There’s no secret. Booking flights in advance mean that you’ll probably get a better deal and it won’t be completely book.
Having said that, there are last minute trips. So what do you do?
Well, you’re in luck. Maybe. Possibly. Sites like lastminute and airfarewatchdog help you find the best deals on flights whether you’re looking in advance or the night before! But like we said before, booking in advance is the safest route, so start booking NOW!
2. Arrive at the airport in time
Leaving your home at reasonable time is the only sure way you will be able to get to the airport in time. Bear in mind that it’s holiday season, the streets are probably filled with snow, the traffic is crowded and it will take you more time to get there than usually. Try to organize yourself so that you get to the airport at least 2 HOURS before your flight. You might think this is a stretch, but TRUST us. It’s better to be early sipping on coffee than running around the terminal hoping they don’t close the doors on you.
3. Travel on “Off” Days
Typically, if you travel during the week and fly early like 5:30 or 6:00 AM, you’ll get much better deals on flights. You can also get a deal by flying on a holiday! You might miss dinner with the family, but at least you’ll have saved so you could splurge on their presents.
4. Pick a Smaller Airport
Most smaller airports aren’t able to compete with the big city airports around it, so they try to lower its fees in order to encourage flyers to choose them. Not everyone knows this and so get your ticket now and save today!
5. Ship all of your luggage
With the check in fees, risk of theft, and the chance of getting your stuff damaged or even destroyed being so high, it would be just better to pay a bit of extra cash and ship your bags. This is especially good if you bought some holiday beverage or foods, since airports have strict regulations.
Dealing with heavy luggage that is sensitive will be incredibly frustrating, so just bring your personal belongings and handy dandy cell phone accessories.
Sticking to these tips and tricks will guarantee you a stress-free flight and you will get to your loved ones just in time to celebrate the holidays together. Happy holidays!
