Time For A New Screen Protector

Time For A New Screen Protector

Your smartphone goes through a lot of wear and tear on a daily basis. Screen protection is a great way to keep your smartphone in its best condition and it’ll prevent irreversible damage to the screen. There are a few different types of screen protection that you can get including plastic, tempered glass,  privacy glass and even an anti-glare screen protector. No matter what your preference, most protectors should be changed about every 6 months, though it will depend on individual lifestyles. Here are a few things you may want to consider if you are contemplating about whether or not to change your phone screen protector.

Noticeable scratches and smudges

If you find yourself struggling to see beyond the screen protector film or cover of your devices, it’s time for a change. Whether you use a glass or plastic or anti-glare screen protector chances are they will eventually get pretty scratched up or smudged from your daily routine and the environmental conditions you are around such as sand, dust particles or gravel. The point of having a screen protector film or cover is to of course offer the best protection to your phone screen, but these should be viewed as disposable, so with a new phone in place, your phone still looks brand new. There are scratch resistant phone protectors available for devices as well that can help provide optical clarity. It is best to do your research to determine what type works best for you.

Built up residue, dust and debris

Even if your screen protector is scratch resistant, they get dirty. Really, disgustingly dirty. Think of all the places your phone has been and all the hands that have touched it, including your own. Scientists at the University of Arizona have found that cell phones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats. Nice thought eh? The good news is there are a few methods to help keep your phone clean and provide optical clarity. Keeping them out of the bathroom is a good start. You can also wipe it clean with a soft microfiber cloth which will help to remove germs and dust particles. And of course, change your screen protector frequently to avoid built up bacteria that might get stuck in those scratches and tears.

Peeling, cracking or bubbling

If you are using a glass protector and it gets cracked, then congratulations, it was a job well done. It’s served its duty and it’s now time for a replacement. Once a screen protector cracks it becomes less effective which means if you drop your phone there is a higher possibility that you could cause major damage directly to your screen. If you are using a plastic protector it can sometimes start to peel and lose its stick, but an easy replacement will solve any issues. Make sure to apply correctly to avoid air bubbles. It may help to use a credit card once applied to smooth out any air bubbles and to help make it last longer.
