Netflix might just be my one true love—it’s always there when I need it, it entertains me, and it never talks back.
But, like all relationships, there’s always something to nitpick. I had noticed for a while now that the site needed some sort of automated play for when the current episode ended.
Let me paint you a picture: I’m snuggled quite comfortably in bed and ready for an intense Law & Order: SVU marathon. (It’s my guilty pleasure, don’t judge.) Mariska Hargitay ends the episode with an epic one-liner, the credits roll, and argh, I have to unearth myself from under the covers to click the forward button to start the next episode.
Well, now Netflix has come up with a solution for my sheer laziness with the launch of “Post-Play.”
Here’s how the magical feature works: As you finish watching an episode of a TV show, the next episode is queued up and ready to go. Without having to click anything, the subsequent episode will start automatically in 15 seconds. If you’re watching a movie, three recommendations will appear on the screen as the end credits are shown.
Though this feature is currently only available on the Netflix website and PS3, the peeps at Netflix assures users that the post-play experience will soon expand to other devices as well.
