Grandson's cell phone

I was looking for an inexpensive cell phone for my 15 year old grandson who lives with my wife and I. I asked him what in wanted in a phone, he told me, talk, text and a camera for pix. I've always had great luck with LG phones, so I started to look online for a good inexpensive cell phone, wirelessemporium.com had best price on the phone I was looking for. They should make this phone standard issue for Navy Seals. I have had mine for SIX years, it has been submerged in liquid 3 times and dropped on every kind of surface known to man a hundred times over, and it will . . . not . . . die. In a world of ever disposable items, it is really cool to buy something that lasts. In the time I've owned this phone, I've replaced my toaster oven 4 times, my microwave twice, my blender, 2 dvd players and my roof. I realize nobody in 2012 gives a damn about an old flip phone without all the smart tech, touch screens, email & web browsing 4G, blah blah blah, BUT if you want just a damn phone to make some damn phone calls and perhaps your day job requires you to go spelunking or spearfishing or herding wildebeasts while simultaneously making sales calls . . . or perhaps you are simply the parent of a 3 year old. In any of these conditions, this phone beats all. The only upgrade I've needed is to tape the battery cover on because it has been dropped so many times that it now comes off too easily. Try that with your stupid iPhone 5 or Galaxy4 beeeoytches.

Answer  Yes. Caller ID is on the front screen, just flip the phone open and say, Hello.

I have a basic plan with Verizon and don't want to upgrade to need internet service plans. Is this just a basic phone for a basic plan?

Answer  The LG VX8300 Verizon Wireless Phone does not have internet access and is compatible with an existing Verizon Wireless cell phone plan. This lg cell phone does not require a data package, and I would suggest contacting your carrier for information specific to your plan.
